What should we drink?
The grape harvest and wine presses bring Parian wines to the table, always accompanying the meal and setting the tone for celebrations. This annual harvest gives Parian winegrowers the opportunity to rejoice in the task in their own special way. On Paros, one of the most ancient vineyards in Greece continues to produce quality wine. The vineyard dates from the Cycladic civilization (3200 - 2000 BC), and yields Monemvasia and Mandilaria wines. The Monemvasia grape is a strong white variety, with a discreet aroma reminiscent of peaches. It was first blended with the Mantilaria variety (deep red, high tannins) in the Venetian era and the result proved so extraordinary that PAROS wine was recognized as a Protected Designation of Origin Product.
