Paros. The Destination of a Lifetime!
The island may be a favorite destination for the young, but one thing is certain: there is no chance that older visitors will get bored. The island wakes early in the morning. Services and shops are easily accessible, and villages are not located on inaccessible mountain tops. The picturesque streets of Parikia, Naoussa and Lefkes are suitable for walking. They are neither rocky nor steep. Perfect for strolling and daydreaming. Quaint taverns, cafés, shops and "balconies" with glorious views. Rich, colorful bougainvillea, hibiscus, oleander and geraniums brighten the charming narrow streets, contrasting with the blue and white of the houses.
History enthusiasts can visit the Archaeological Museum, the Kastro (castle), the Ancient Cemetery and the Temple of Panagia of Ekatontapiliani in Parikia. There is a 14th century Venetian castle at the entrance of the picturesque port of Naoussa, and a collection of Byzantine icons in Agios Athanasios. In Lefkes, a village dating from the 16th century, visitors are sure to admire the excellent architecture and churches, including Agia Triada, and its marble icon screen and Byzantine icons. Paros boasts many archaeological and Byzantine monuments, which visitors can discover on their own while wandering through the villages and countryside. Windmills, houses, watermills, pigeon houses, boats and light, fast sailboats!
One of the advantages of the island is its excellent network of roads that allows visitors to tour the island, its villages and its beautiful sights. Regardless the time of year, or whether you choose to travel alone or in a group, there are hotels to meet your every need. Weather permitting, be sure to go for a swim at the beautiful beaches of the island. Most are easily accessible and offer amenities.
