The House of Literature

History
The collaboration between EKEMEL and the Municipality of Paros began in the summer of 2003, with a series of seminars for translators of Modern Greek literature held on the island. The idea to establish a permanent center for translators was born, which led to the establishment of the House of Literature in the spring of 2004.

The mission of the House is to host professional writers and literature translators from all over the world, but mainly from Europe.

Hospitality
The House of Literature at the mountain village of Lefkes, the former capital of Paros, affords ideal working conditions for writers and translators (14 rooms, library, desktop computers).

Writers and translators can stay at the House of Literature for a minimum period of two weeks to a maximum of three months.

Accommodation is provided free of charge for all European citizens (15 € daily fee for non EU citizens).
